What fails first, and how it is prevented
The henna night is the one stage of a Moroccan wedding where the hands are photographed more than the face. Hands are prepared as part of the booking rather than noticed on the day, and the face goes a step lighter — a heavy face above close-up hands unbalances every frame.
What Asilah adds to it
The north blends Andalusian and Riffian traditions — the Chefchaouen-style caftan with intricate gold embroidery, and celebration carried by izran poetry and Andalusi melody. The Andalusian inheritance shows in line and proportion rather than in volume.
The metal question. Gold embroidery in the Chefchaouni style, so a warm palette — but lighter-handed than the Marrakchi equivalent.
The climate. Mediterranean and humid, with sea air. Salt in the air is hard on a base; a matte finish and thin setting passes hold where a dewy one will not.
Before the day
Henna itself must be applied the day before to reach its true colour. Applied on the morning it stays orange and pale in the photographs, so the night is planned backwards from that.
