Portfolio

Bridal and beauty work on real clients in Morocco. Photographed on the day, in the room, in the light that was actually there.

Bridal

Moroccan bridal makeup built to survive the specific test it is set: a night that starts in the afternoon, runs past two in the morning, is photographed continuously under a venue's lighting plus a photographer's flash, and involves a veil going on and off more times than anyone counts.

Moroccan bride in a gold-embroidered takchita under a tulle veil, wearing a crystal tiara, with soft bridal makeup and a muted rose lip
Bridal · veil and tiaraSoft, low-contrast bridal makeup built to read through a veil. Anything sharper disappears under tulle; anything heavier photographs as a mask.
Close portrait of a Moroccan bride beneath a veil with warm shimmer eyeshadow, defined lashes and a soft nude lip
Bridal · soft glamWarm shimmer on the lid, definition kept at the lash line, lip left quiet so the eye carries the face.
Moroccan bride in a gold and cream takchita with a jewelled crown, wearing defined smokey eye makeup and a deep rose lip
Bridal · gold takchitaA deeper eye for a bride who wanted the makeup to hold against heavy gold embroidery rather than compete with it.
Bride in an embroidered caftan and crystal crown photographed from the side, showing sculpted cheek and warm bronze eye makeup
Bridal · caftan, three-quarterSculpting kept one step stronger than looks right in a mirror, because flash flattens everything it touches.
Bride in a silver and gold caftan with a jewelled belt, hand raised to her neck, showing bridal makeup and manicured hands
Bridal · caftan and handsBridal photography is hand-heavy. Hands are prepared as part of the booking, not noticed on the day.

Bridal · full lookThe full takchita, belt and veil together — the shape the makeup has to sit inside.

Beauty

Close-up work, where the tolerances are smallest. At this distance a lash a millimetre off centre shows, a lip line one shade too cool reads as a mistake, and powder sitting on the skin rather than in it turns the whole frame chalky.

Beauty · red lip and wingA classic red lip and wing, shot close. At this distance a lash a millimetre off centre is visible, which is what makes beauty exacting.

Beauty · applicationPowder going on in thin passes rather than one heavy layer — the difference only shows at hour three.

Beauty · lip and cheekWarm tones against olive skin. Cool taupes would flatten this face; warm bronze separates from the skin and reads.

What you are looking at

These are photographs taken during real bookings, not a styled studio shoot. The rooms are the rooms — a family home in Casablanca on a wedding morning, a getting-ready room with the light coming through whatever window was there.

That is deliberate rather than an apology. A studio plate shot under controlled light tells you what a makeup artist can do in perfect conditions. These tell you what the makeup looks like in the conditions your own wedding morning will actually have, which is the more useful thing to know before booking.

Questions

Is this your own work?

Yes. Every photograph on this page is makeup applied by Lamyaa Aissi on a real client in Morocco, not a stock image or a reproduction of someone else's look.

Can I bring one of these looks to my own booking?

Bring it to the trial. The useful thing about a reference from this page rather than an international one is that it was built on Moroccan skin, in this climate, for a wedding that runs past midnight — so it is achievable rather than aspirational.

Will my photographs be published?

Only if you say so. Plenty of clients prefer not to be, and that is the default answer if it is never discussed. Tell me at the booking either way.
