What actually decides it
Humidity and temperature. Coastal humidity rewards matte finishes; dry inland heat punishes them and wants layered hydration underneath.
The specific case of new years eve. Start from the condition it has to survive — how long, in what light, photographed or not — and work backwards to the formula. Choosing the product first and hoping is what produces most of the failures.
On Moroccan skin, in a Moroccan climate
Casablanca and Rabat are humid year-round while Marrakech and the interior are dry — so a seasonal rule written for one is wrong for the other, in the same country and the same month.
