Double cleansing

What actually decides it
Whether the skin is dry or dehydrated — dry lacks oil, dehydrated lacks water and often produces more oil to compensate, which is why it gets mistreated as oily.
The specific case of double cleansing. Start from the condition it has to survive — how long, in what light, photographed or not — and work backwards to the formula. Choosing the product first and hoping is what produces most of the failures.
On Moroccan skin, in a Moroccan climate
Dehydration is the dominant complaint in a Moroccan summer and it presents as shine. Treating it as oiliness makes every subsequent decision wrong.
What it will not do
It is not a same-day fix. Skin that is dehydrated on the morning of a wedding was dehydrated the week before.
