Champagne eyeshadow
Every eyeshadow colour has a skin tone it flatters and one it fights, and the difference is temperature rather than depth.

What actually decides it
Pigment load first, then temperature. A weak formula in the right colour does nothing; a strong formula in the wrong temperature reads as dirt.
The specific case of champagne eyeshadow. Start from the condition it has to survive — how long, in what light, photographed or not — and work backwards to the formula. Choosing the product first and hoping is what produces most of the failures.
On Moroccan skin, in a Moroccan climate
The constant across this site: warm bronzes, coppers, terracottas and golds read on olive and deeper skin, while cool taupes and greyed browns tend to read as dullness rather than depth.
What it will not do
Colour does not create shape. Placement does that, and a beautiful colour badly placed still reads as a mistake.
