Mattifying techniques for oily skin

Control oil at the source with a targeted primer, then set the T-zone properly and blot rather than re-powder.

Written by Lamyaa Aissi, professional makeup artist, Casablanca.

How to do it

  1. Mattifying primer on the T-zone only, never the whole face.
  2. Long-wear matte base, applied thinly.
  3. Set the centre panel with a translucent powder.
  4. Matte setting spray to finish.
  5. Blot through the day.

The Moroccan adjustment

This is one of the few routines where fuller setting is correct, and coastal Casablanca is where it earns its place.

What goes wrong

Mattifying the entire face. Dry cheeks treated as oily will flake by mid-afternoon.
