Concealer before or after foundation
After. Foundation first, concealer second.
Written by Lamyaa Aissi, professional makeup artist, Casablanca.
How to do it
- Apply foundation across the face and let it settle.
- Look again. Most of what you were going to conceal has already been evened out, so you need far less.
- Place concealer only where darkness or a blemish remains.
- Press a very small amount of finely milled powder over the under-eye, rather than sweeping.
The Moroccan adjustment
The order matters more in heat, where every unnecessary layer is one more thing that can move by the afternoon.
What goes wrong
Concealing first. Foundation applied over it drags and thins it, so the coverage you placed is the coverage you lose.
