Build Your First Makeup Kit in Morocco
You do not need twenty-one products. You need seven, in the right order, and the discipline not to buy the eighth until you have worn the first seven properly.
The seven that actually matter
Every look on this site is built from the same short sequence: prep, base, correct, warm, colour, light, lock. One product per step is a complete kit. Everything beyond that is refinement.
- Skin prep — a cream for the dry areas. Avène Cold Cream, 175 MAD.
- Foundation — one that matches your neck, not your hand.
- Concealer — under-eye and blemishes only.
- Bronzer — warmth, not contour, to begin with.
- Blush — the step that makes a face look alive.
- Powder — T-zone only.
- Setting spray — the difference between four hours and twelve.
A realistic Moroccan starter budget
Under 900 MAD, entirely from Moroccan shops, no import:
- Avène Cold Cream 40ml — 80 MAD, any parapharmacie
- L'Oréal Infaillible foundation or a Golden Rose base — 120–180 MAD
- A NYX or e.l.f. concealer — around 100 MAD, Palmarosa or Zin Beauty
- Benefit Hoola if you can stretch, 350 MAD at La Essenza — or a Golden Rose matte bronzer for a fraction
- L'Oréal Infaillible Setting Mist — 155 MAD at Moons
That is a kit that will not let you down at a wedding. The prestige products on this site do the same jobs with more finesse and longer wear — they are an upgrade path, not a starting requirement.
Where to spend and where to save
Spend on: foundation and setting spray. These are the two products where formula quality is genuinely visible from across a room and over a long night. A cheap foundation oxidises and separates; a cheap setting spray does nothing at all.
Save on: bronzer, powder, brushes to start with. A matte brown powder is a matte brown powder. Golden Rose, e.l.f. and NYX are all genuinely good and all easy to buy in Morocco.
Shade matching in a country with no testers
This is the hardest part of buying online here. Three rules that will save you money:
- Match on the jaw, never on the hand. Hands are almost always darker or more yellow than faces.
- Match in daylight, near a window, with no makeup on. Shop lighting is designed to sell, not to inform.
- Most Moroccan skin sits in the warm and neutral families, but olive-leaning skin often goes orange in warm shades and needs a neutral. If you have ever looked orange in a foundation that suited a friend, this is why.
If you can get to Yan&One at Morocco Mall once, do — swatch three shades properly, write the numbers down, and then buy online forever after.

What is the minimum I need for a wedding guest look?

Should I buy a foundation online without testing it?
Only if you already know your shade number in that brand's system. Otherwise get to a store with testers once, record the shade, and buy online after that.
Are cheap brands bad?
No. NYX, e.l.f. and Golden Rose are all genuinely good and widely available in Morocco. Formula spend matters most in foundation and setting spray; in bronzer and powder the gap is much smaller than the price difference suggests.
