They are not competitors
This is the whole thing. Hoola leans cool. Laguna is warm. A real shadow on a face has no orange in it, which is why Hoola sculpts convincingly and Laguna does not. And real sunlight has no grey in it, which is why Laguna warms beautifully and Hoola can read muddy if you use it that way.
Put them in the wrong roles and both look wrong. Put them in the right ones and you understand why professionals carry both.
If you can only buy one
Buy Hoola. Not because it is better, but because it is more versatile and far easier to get in Morocco. It contours, it bronzes at a push, it works as an eyeshadow transition shade and it softens a hard brow. At 350 MAD from La Essenza it is also the cheaper of the two.
Laguna is the more beautiful product. It is also harder to find here, harder to price, and it does one job.
Which one Moroccan skin actually needs
Most local complexions are already warm. Adding more warmth on top of warm skin is the single most common bronzer mistake in this market — the face reads muddy rather than sunlit.
What warm skin usually needs is depth, and depth is cool. Which puts Hoola ahead for most people reading this, with one caveat: on deep complexions Hoola can go ashy, and there Laguna or a deeper warm shade is the better call.
How to use both together
This is what happens in a professional kit, and it is worth copying.
- Cream Laguna first, on bare or freshly-based skin, where the sun would hit: forehead, nose bridge, cheekbone tops, jaw.
- Powder the centre panel.
- Hoola second, into the hollow under the cheekbone and along the jawline, as shadow.
- Blush over the top to bring life back.
Warm first, cool second. The face gets both sunlight and structure, and neither cancels the other.
The verdict
Hoola for most people, and buy it first. Cheaper, easier to find in Morocco, and it does the job warm skin usually needs. Add Laguna when you want genuine warmth rather than structure — and if you are buying Laguna, buy the cream.
