Every lip format, and the reason the famous nudes do not work on pigmented lips.

A nude is not a colour, it is a relationship. It has to sit close to the wearer's own lip tone and slightly deeper — which is why the best-known nude shades, formulated against fair to light-medium lips, turn grey and ashy on deeper ones.
A large share of lips here carry real natural depth, often deeper at the edges than in the centre. Every online nude recommendation assumes a pale base.
The liner does the work, not the lipstick
Over a long event the lipstick is reapplied and the liner is what holds the shape while the colour wears down. Line the whole lip, not just the edge: a fully filled lip in liner under the colour survives eating, while an outline alone leaves a visible ring once the centre wears off.
Formats, and what each costs you
Matte lasts longest and is the least forgiving of dry or flaking lips. Satin is comfortable and needs reapplying. Liquid lipstick holds through a night and can be drying enough to be uncomfortable by hour six. Gloss and oil are comfort and shine rather than longevity, and they move.
For a fourteen-hour wedding, a lined and filled lip under a long-wear formula, blotted between layers, is the combination that survives.
Blot, do not layer
On a hot evening three layers of lipstick slide as one mass. Colour, blot with tissue, colour again, blot again. It takes forty seconds and it is the difference between a lip that reaches the photographs and one that does not.

Why does nude lipstick look grey on me?
Because a nude has to relate to your own lip tone. On naturally pigmented lips a shade formulated against fair lips reads ashy. Match to the deepest part of your own lip, not the lightest.
How do I make lipstick last all day?
Line and fill the whole lip first, then colour, blot, colour again, blot again. The liner holds the shape as the colour wears; layering without blotting makes the whole thing slide.
Matte or satin for a wedding?
A long-wear formula over a fully lined lip. Matte lasts longest but needs a prepared, exfoliated lip — on dry lips it will find every flake and hold onto it all night.
