Foundation and Base Makeup
Every base format, what each is actually for, and which one survives your skin and your climate.

Base is the decision that determines everything applied after it. Get the format wrong and no amount of blending rescues it; get the undertone wrong and the face greys within the hour regardless of how well the depth matched.
This is the map of every base format, what each is genuinely for, and how each behaves on the range of skin tones common in Morocco and in a climate the international guides were not written for.
Choosing a format before choosing a shade
Most base problems are format problems wearing a shade complaint. A liquid on dehydrated skin will slide by hour two no matter how correct the colour is; a powder on dry skin will find every flake.
Decide in this order: skin type first, then event length, then coverage, then shade. Reversing that order is why so many foundations are bought and never finished.
The undertone rule, which matters more here than elsewhere
Most Moroccan skin runs olive or golden. A foundation matched on depth alone against a neutral or pink base goes grey as it settles, and it does so within the hour — not because the shade was too light or too dark, but because it was the wrong temperature.
Test three candidate shades along the jawline, never the wrist or the back of the hand, and look at them in daylight rather than shop lighting. The correct one disappears because it matches the temperature of your neck.
Coastal versus inland
Casablanca and Rabat carry humidity off the Atlantic. Rich, luminous bases slide there, and a matte or soft-matte formula holds far better.
Marrakech, Fès and the interior in summer pull moisture out fast, and the same matte formula that saved a coastal face reads dry and flat. The base has to be chosen for where the day happens, not for a general rule.

Which foundation is best for oily skin?
A long-wear matte or soft-matte liquid, or a powder foundation for a shorter event. In coastal humidity, matte formulas hold significantly better than luminous ones.
Which foundation is best for dry skin?
A serum, cream or luminous liquid formula, over genuinely prepared skin. The preparation matters more than the foundation — base grips prepared skin and slides on unprepared skin, and the difference only shows at hour two.
What is the difference between BB and CC cream?
BB cream evens and hydrates — it is a light tinted base. CC cream corrects colour: redness, dullness, uneven tone. If your problem is colour, CC. If it is texture and hydration, BB. Neither replaces foundation for a wedding.
Why does my foundation turn grey?
Almost always an undertone mismatch. Olive and golden skin against a neutral or pink-based foundation greys as it settles, even when the depth is right.
