How to contour square face
Soften the corners of the jaw and the hairline, rather than adding definition to them.
Written by Lamyaa Aissi, professional makeup artist, Casablanca.
How to do it
- Place shadow at the outer corners of the forehead, following the hairline.
- Blend shadow along the angle of the jaw, softening the corner rather than sharpening it.
- Keep the cheekbone contour rounded rather than a straight diagonal.
- Highlight the centre of the forehead and chin.
The Moroccan adjustment
As always here, choose a shadow that is genuinely deeper than the skin. A shade chosen for its coolness alone vanishes on deeper skin.
What goes wrong
Contouring straight down the sides. On a square face it emphasises the corners you were softening.
