How to control shine throughout day
Blot rather than powder. Each additional powder layer builds toward cake without solving the cause.
Written by Lamyaa Aissi, professional makeup artist, Casablanca.
How to do it
- Blot with paper first, pressing rather than rubbing.
- Only then add a very small amount of powder if needed.
- Mattify at the source in the morning — primer on the T-zone only.
- Carry blotting papers instead of a compact.
The Moroccan adjustment
In coastal humidity, shine returns faster than anywhere inland. Plan two blotting stops through a long evening rather than one heavy setting at the start.
What goes wrong
Powdering over shine. It lifts the base with it and builds texture that is then visible in every photograph.
