Soft to full.

Halo Eye Makeup

A ring of depth around a bright centre, creating a halo of light on the lid.

Written by Lamyaa Aissi, professional makeup artist, Casablanca.

Where it sits

Soft to full.

Soft glam is not simply less full glam — the intent is different. It aims at polished; full glam aims at transformed and camera-ready. Deciding which is wanted before the first product goes on saves the whole session.

The technique it depends on

The centre. It must be genuinely brighter than everything around it or the effect collapses.

On Moroccan skin, in a Moroccan climate

The bright centre needs real pigment on deeper skin — a weak shimmer disappears and leaves just a dark eye.

Underneath all of it: most Moroccan skin runs olive or golden, so cool taupes and greyed tones read as dullness rather than depth. Warm bronze, copper and terracotta do the work instead.

When it is the wrong choice

Very small lids where the centre has no room.
