On 'Til Dawn Waterproof Mattifying Setting Spray

What it is

On 'Til Dawn is ONE/SIZE's long-wear setting spray in the waterproof, mattifying version. ONE/SIZE is Patrick Starrr's brand and it was built around exactly this problem — heavy, photographed, all-day makeup that has to survive being worn for fourteen hours rather than looking good for one.

Two claims matter and both are printed on the bottle. It is waterproof, and it mattifies rather than setting to a natural or dewy finish. That combination makes it the specialist in the kit: where All Nighter locks a look in place with a natural finish, this one locks it in place and takes the shine down at the same time.

It is the sister product to the Oil Sucker blotting spray, and the two are designed to work as a pair — this one at the end of the application, the Oil Sucker in the client's bag for the rest of the night.

Specification

On the packaging. Read off the bottle: “WATERPROOF / ON 'TIL DAWN / MATTIFYING WATERPROOF SETTING SPRAY / MATIFIANT À L'ÉPREUVE DE L'EAU”, with the ONE/SIZE O/S monogram on the front of the pink can — the same monogram as the red O/S palette and the Oil Sucker can elsewhere in the kit.

How it is used in this kit

• Mattifying spray is a T-zone product, not a whole-face product. Spray the centre panel and leave the cheeks alone or the face goes flat.
• Use it under a natural-finish spray, not over it. Matte first, then All Nighter to take the powdery edge off.
• This is the spray for the groom, the brothers and the father of the bride — they want shine gone and nothing else.
• Waterproof means it needs proper removal. Oil cleanser, not micellar water.
